A multidisciplinary presenting organization, the Mercyhurst Institute for Arts and Culture ignites curiosity by bringing the world to the Erie region through shared live experiences. In multiple state-of-the-art venues across the Mercyhurst campus and in the surrounding Erie community, MIAC stages innovative, enriching programs for diverse audiences. Such programming encourages the communal experience of the arts and the reflective appreciation of their value, particularly within an international context.
In 2011, Mercyhurst University announced the formation of the Institute for Arts & Culture (MIAC) which oversees the arts programming accomplished by the Mary D’Angelo Performing Arts Center and other venues on campus. MIAC manages the planning and execution of artistic and cultural events on campus in coordination with faculty and students. Overarching to these activities is the desire to develop future patrons of the arts among Mercyhurst students and the greater Erie community through new initiatives and cross collaborations.
