The Yellow Chair is a group exhibition presented by Erie Open Figure Sessions. They are a community of both professional and amateur artists who meet weekly to draw the nude human figure. Their group was founded by the Artist Alison Stinely in 2014. It has been directed by the Artist Deborah Sementelli and the Artist Kris Risto since 2016. For the past 11 years, they've gathered to practice, explore, and develop their craft through live model sessions.
A frequent fixture in our studio is a yellow chair, often used as a prop to seat the model. This exhibition showcases a selection of sketches and finished works created by our artists—each piece capturing a moment of observation, study, and interpretation.
The exhibition is open Nov. 6 to Dec. 5. Cummings Art Gallery is open Monday-Friday from 2-6 p.m. The reception is open Nov. 13, from 5-7 p.m.
This event is free and open to the public.
