Mercyhurst University's Department of Art, Design, and Communication announces the call for submissions for the 2026 Juried Student Art Exhibition. This annual event showcases the talents of Mercyhurst University students and offers aspiring artists the opportunity to gain professional exhibition experience and recognition.
The 2026 Juried Student Art Exhibition will be open from March 5-27, 2026, with a closing reception. Cummings Art Gallery is open Monday-Friday from 2-6 p.m. The reception is on March 20, 2026, from 4-6 p.m. and is free and open to the public, offering a chance to celebrate the participating artists and their creations.
The exhibition invites students to submit work to be juried, accepted, and then displayed for an expansive overview of Mercyhurst University student work. This year’s juror is Indiana University of Pennsylvania’s Painting and Foundations Professor Ivan Fortushniak. Fortushniak has an MFA in Painting from the University of Cincinnati and a BFA in Painting from Kendall College of Art and Design, and his work is featured in the private collections of the Dayton Art Museum, Spencer Museum of Art, and the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts.
